Sassy

Sassy (Char-Don's Sassy Sword-Dancer CDX) was my first show dog. When I had to euthanize my obedience Lab because of a brain tumor, a friend suggested I get a show-quality puppy and try conformation as well, that if I didn't like it I could switch back to being an obedience-only exhibitor. I found a lovely little chocolate puppy, dipped my toes in the conformation ring, and that was that. I showed Sassy successfully until the age of two, when x-rays unfortunately showed she had mild hip dysplasia. I put a CD and CDX on her, then retired her for good. She was a sweet, happy, beautiful girl who ran the household until the age of 12, when I lost her, and I still miss her a great deal. Had it not been for Sassy, I'm not sure I ever would have tried conformation. So in a way she laid the groundwork for my conformation career with Cardigans.
